The Most Commonly Treated Areas for Liposuction

Fat is difficult to shed from a number of areas of the body, areas you may know better by their nicknames: muffin top, saddlebags, love handles, and bra rolls.
These areas and more can be treated effectively with liposuction, which permanently removes excess fat from a person’s body, resulting in a smoother, tighter, more youthful appearance.
As long as there is good skin elasticity, liposuction should be an option. But some body parts are more popular treatment areas than others.
Below, Dr. Alexander Ereso discusses the most common liposuction treatment areas.
Chest – For women, liposuction of the chest can help improve the contours of the breast area. For men, liposuction can improve the flabby appearance that results from age-related loss of muscle mass.
Upper Arms – Liposuction of the upper arm creates a more toned appearance and reduces the buildup of excess fat and tissue.
Upper and Lower Abdomen – Liposuction of these areas is usually performed together. A critical area that begs closer inspecting is the skin of the lower abdomen. This area is prone to sagging skin and if excessive, may be more appropriate to have some portion of that skin excised. Dr. Ereso will examine you and suggest your suitability for liposuction.
Waist – This area usually has great elasticity. Patients who undergo liposuction here can expect a noticeably slimmer waist size.
Flanks – Located in the lumbar region, this is another area with good elasticity. Liposuction of the flanks is often performed along with liposuction of the waist. Circumferential correction of your midsection typically leads to profound improvements of your overall shape than treating the abdomen or flanks solely.
Back – Back skin is thick and easy to work with. Liposuction of this area reduces the appearance of rolls.
Buttocks – The buttocks is a popular treatment area, but the procedure sometimes produces a deflated appearance. If you’re interested in buttocks liposuction, ask your plastic surgeon if it’s appropriate for you.
Inner, Outer, and Anterior Thighs – Some people don’t want their inner thighs to touch when they stand, and liposuction can contour a person’s inner thighs to achieve this goal.
Similarly, outer-thigh liposuction reduces the amount of fat in the area, creating a slimmer silhouette.
Anterior-thigh liposuction is typically performed to balance any surgery performed on the inner or outer thighs.
Face and Neck –Liposuction can also contour a patient’s face and neck, addressing issues such as double chins, chubby cheeks, and necks with excess fat.
