Most Popular Mommy Makeover Combinations

Motherhood is a joyful experience, but many women find the effects of pregnancy and nursing to be tough on their figures and their confidence. Every day, Dr. Alexander Ereso of Pearl-Ereso Plastic Surgery Center meets women that are unhappy with the ways their bodies have changed after having children. The plastic surgeons often recommend a treatment known as the mommy makeover, which combines several plastic surgery procedures to return a patient’s body to its pre-pregnancy glory.

In this post, Bay Area plastic surgeon Dr. Ereso explains the procedures commonly included in most mommy makeovers.

Tummy Tuck

The abdominal area is acutely affected by pregnancy. The skin and muscles stretch to accommodate the growing baby, and often do not contract after the baby is born. No amount of diet or exercise can tighten the skin or muscles – a tummy tuck is the most effective way to remedy these problems.

During the procedure, Dr. Ereso removes loose skin and excess fat and repair the abdominal muscles. They can also move the belly button to a more natural location on the abdomen. The overall result is a flatter, firmer abdomen and more attractive physique.

Breast Lift

The breasts also change with pregnancy and nursing. Many women find their breasts look saggy, flat and “deflated” after breastfeeding. Breast lift is designed to elevate the breasts higher on the chest and give them a more attractive shape. Excess skin is removed, the tissue is reshaped higher on the chest and the nipple can be relocated to a perkier position on the breast mound if needed.

Breast Augmentation

Some mothers opt to have breast implants placed at the time of breast lift surgery. The implants can provide a modest or dramatic boost in breast volume, depending on the woman’s specific aesthetic goals.

Many mommy makeovers include liposuction to eliminate pesky body fat that lingers after pregnancy. Liposuction can help sculpt the thighs, hips, buttocks, waist, upper arms or even the neck and under the chin.

What Will Your Mommy Makeover Include?

Your mommy makeover in the Bay Area will be tailored to your individual concerns and personal goals. Dr. Ereso will sit down with you to discuss the areas of your body that bother you, and determine a suitable course of correction. Most likely your mommy makeover will be completed in a single operation, although some makeovers are spaced out into separate procedures performed over the span of a few months.

What’s the Best Way to Get Rid of Unwanted Fat?

Perhaps you’re genetically predisposed to carrying weight in your thighs or hips; or maybe you’ve noticed with age that you’re putting on weight in those areas. If diet and exercise efforts won’t help to slim these bothersome areas of excess fat, Dr. Alexander Ereso of Pearl-Ereso Plastic Surgery Center can help. Here, they explain some of the treatment options that are available at our Bay Area plastic surgery practice

Liposuction for Unwanted Body Fat

Liposuction is the most popular procedure to reduce areas of diet- and exercise-resistant body fat. It can safely and effectively slim the abdomen, thighs, flanks, back, arms and many other areas of the body.

During a liposuction procedure in the Bay Area, Dr. Ereso will create small incisions in the targeted area and insert a thin, hollow tube called a cannula. The plastic surgeon moves the cannula through the fat to break it up, and then applies suction to remove the fat from the body. Once the fat has been removed, it won’t return. The result is a slimmer, more sculpted body contour.

Kybella for Unwanted Fat Under the Chin

Unwanted fat under the chin is a common problem, and one that we can treat non-invasively. Dr. Ereso offers Kybella, an injectable product that breaks up unwanted fat under the chin without surgery, incisions or anesthesia. Small amounts of Kybella are injected under the chin and the active ingredient destroys the fat, which is later filtered from the body. Removing selective fat under the chin and along the jawline with Kybella can make the entire face look slimmer and more defined.

Lift Procedures for Unwanted Fat and Loose Skin

Sometimes Dr. Ereso sees patients that are bothered by a combination of excess fat and loose, saggy skin. Often these patients have lost a significant amount of weight through diet and exercise or bariatric surgery, but their smaller physique is concealed beneath loose folds of skin and localized fat pockets.

Body lift procedures are a good option because they simultaneously treat the fat and skin. Lower body lift is the most comprehensive of these procedures, and targets the lower torso, thighs and buttocks. Thigh lift isolates and treats excess fat and skin on the upper thighs, and arm lift treats the upper arms. Our plastic surgeons in the Bay Area can recommend the most suitable treatment option after examining your area(s) of concern and learning more about your specific goals.
