Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments for Men

Not every man desiring a more youthful looking face necessarily needs surgical correction. In many cases, non-surgical treatment with lasers or cosmetic injectable products can provide the desired rejuvenating effects and make the face look more youthful and vibrant — all with rapid recovery and minimal side effects. The team at Pearl-Ereso Plastic Surgery Center offers several types of non-surgical procedures that can be performed alone with great results, or in conjunction with a surgical procedure for more comprehensive effects.

What Non-Surgical Treatment Can Offer Men

  • Noticeable reduction in signs of aging
  • Smoother, firmer skin
  • Attractive facial contours
  • Quick treatment with minimal downtime

Non-surgical treatment options include the following:

Botox & Dermal Fillers

Botox is a cosmetic injectable designed to minimize noticeable "dynamic" wrinkles, or wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions. Botox is injected into specific areas of the face and temporarily blocks the nerve impulses that cause muscles to contract. As the muscles relax, the overlying wrinkles become less noticeable, and the treated area looks smoother. The most common areas treated in men include the glabella, which produces the deep vertical lines between the eyebrows, and the forehead, which produces the characteristic horizontal lines when the brow is raised. The effect of Botox can be expected to last between three to five months. Dr. Pearl has personally used Botox for over 20 years with excellent results.

male facial surgery example Dermal fillers can accomplish several tasks. Primarily they are used to add youthful-looking fullness to atrophic or areas of the face that have lost volume. Dermal fillers also can be used to fill in deep creases and facial folds, such as the smile lines that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth. It is also common to treat the corners of the mouth and chin which sag or drop as one ages. When injected underneath the skin, dermal fillers plump up or "inflate" the area for smoother and firmer looking skin.

One of the newer dermal fillers that Dr. Pearl and Dr. Ereso use is Voluma. Many patients injected with Voluma show good improvement in re-volumizing the midface, which may become atrophic or wrinkled with aging. Because of its unique formulation, Voluma can achieve a greater degree of lifting than most dermal fillers and lasts much longer. Besides Voluma, there are different dermal fillers including but not limited to Restylane and Juvederm. In your consultation, Dr. Pearl and Dr. Ereso will discuss your specific needs and will determine the appropriate dermal filler for you.

The number of men having Botox injections in order to smooth out their fine lines and wrinkles continues to grow for many reasons. The effects of Botox and dermal fillers are not permanent, so follow-up treatments are recommended to maintain the results. During your consultation, Dr. Pearl and Dr. Ereso will determine a treatment plan and schedule that will be optimized for you.

Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fractional laser skin resurfacing with Fraxel is a safe and effective way to address common skin concerns, including sun damaged skin, fine lines, textural problems and areas of uneven pigmentation. Acne scarring is a very common indication that men come to the Pearl-Ereso Plastic Surgery Center for treatment with Fraxel. During a fractional laser skin resurfacing session, the laser light prompts skin cell turnover - meaning dead and dull skin cells are eliminated to reveal fresh, healthy skin cells. Also, the heat from the laser stimulates the body's production of collagen for tighter, firmer and more beautiful skin. Laser skin resurfacing is generally well tolerated by patients and the recovery is very rapid with minimal complications. Depending on the specific case, one laser skin resurfacing session may suffice or a series of treatments may be recommended.

Kybella

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable with a unique purpose: to reduce or eliminate submental fullness — unwanted fat underneath the chin. Small amounts of the product are injected into the chin to destroy the fat cells. Over time, the area underneath the chin starts to look leaner and firmer. A series of two treatments is typically needed to achieve the desired results. Once the chin area has achieved the desired appearance, the results tend to last a very long time. Repeat treatment is generally not needed.
