Schedule a consultation with Dr. Pearl. He and his staff will explain your options and provide the facts you need to make an informed decision. After evaluating your general health and medical history as well as discussing your personal desires and interests, various procedures and treatment options will be explored. All aspects of your surgery, including preparation, relative risks, recovery, and costs, will be discussed.
Realistic expectations are an important part of every procedure; you are encouraged to ask questions and express your needs and concerns. Patient education and communication are the keys to successful results.
Two to three weeks before surgery, avoid medications that thin the
blood and increase the chance of bleeding and bruising during the
procedure. These include any medicine containing aspirin, anti-inflammatory
drugs, e.g. Ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin®) and Naproxen (Aleve®),
as well as vitamin E supplements. Other alternative medicines
such as Ginkgo Biloba should not be taken before surgery. A complete
list will be distributed at your consultation.
The relationship with Dr. Pearl does not end when you leave the operating room. After the initial healing period, you will return to the Pearl Plastic Surgery Center for postoperative follow-up visits.
