There are two ways that talented Bay Area plastic surgeons Drs. Samuel Pearl and Alexander Ereso can enhance the size and shape of the buttocks: with the placement of an implant or with the Brazilian butt lift procedure.
Buttock implants are safe medical devices inserted into the buttocks to add volume and fullness. Two implants are used and they are placed on either side of the buttocks. They are available in different sizes and shapes to create a range of results.
Brazilian butt lift involves taking unwanted fat from an area of the patient’s body (e.g., the abdomen or thighs), purifying it and injecting it into the buttocks to add fullness. Many patients love their Brazilian Butt Lift because the results look and feel natural, and because the procedure transforms more of the body — including the donor area. The area around the buttocks is sculpted to accentuate the shape of the buttocks.
Is There Enough Donor Fat?
Achieving a successful Brazilian butt lift is contingent upon the patient having sufficient fat to add to the buttocks. The amount of volume that can be added to the buttocks is proportional to the amount of volume that can be taken from other areas of the body. To make a noticeable difference, at least 500 ccs need to be placed on both sides of the buttocks. The average Brazilian butt lift patient has 800 ccs placed per buttocks.
Now, slim patients generally need less fat to achieve the desired results. And many small patients have achieved beautiful outcomes from Brazilian butt lift.
Nevertheless, patients that are naturally very slender and have a low BMI may find they do not have enough fat to make a noticeable difference. They may be asked to gain weight prior to surgery; or, they may opt to maintain their weight and use a buttock implant instead.
It is impossible to make this determination without an in-person consultation and physical examination of the patient’s anatomy. If you want to enhance your buttocks for a more curvaceous look, Dr. Pearl and Dr. Ereso can help you select the procedure that is best for your unique and specific needs.
